The Fourth “P”
A message from Cody:
I got up, showered, made coffee, had a strawberry pop tart and read my morning Proverb.
I didnt write yesterday so thou getteth a double portion of my uneducated opinions on scripture lol
chapter 27 verse 17 is one of my favorites everyone knows "as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens the countenance of his friend."
and verse 23 "be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and attend to your herds." 23 This one made me feel better about my need to know you and the girls are safeguarded while I’m not there to protect or provide for y'all.
Now on to chapter 28–verse 25 stood out. "he who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the Lord will be prospered."
I was listening to way FM last night as I was trying to go to sleep and they always have a motivational clip from someone everyday right before commercials. He was talking about how “fear not” is mentioned 365 times in the Bible. Trusting in Him also means not letting myself go down rabbit trails of hypothetical ways this could turn out instead of trusting His plan and resting in that.
All I have to do is trust and fear not. He already has it figured out for me. Stressing about the “what ifs” does nothing to change His plan and only stresses me out. Anyone that knows me knows I am a human version of Eeyore. Most times I wallow in doubt and fear instead of trusting what He is doing.
Sounds easy enough but I struggle with it way more than I should. I definitely have doubting Thomas beat by a long shot. Prison, Poptarts, Proverbs and a little Pessimism lol With the Lord’s help I'm going to cut out the last “P”.
I love you babe have a good day
How true is that in all of our lives?? Sometimes, life throws us so many lemons that we find all we’re drinking is lemonade and a glass of sweet tea would really hit the spot.
Trying to find joy and optimism in really hard times can be extremely difficult. But remember, our joy comes from the Lord and when we keep our focus and trust on Him, He will cut out that fourth “P” for us!
I think that is why it is so important to have a good knowledge of God's word so that one can rely on it when going through tough times. When we put our trust in Him instead of our circumstances and trust His timing, will, purpose, though it may not make sense, it still leaves us with a sense of peace that does transcend all understanding. Our family was going through a difficult situation a few years back (nothing remotely close to what is happening with yours) but it filled me with anxiety, worry, stress, etc. I found a great Bible study online that dealt with anxiety where every day there was a Bible verse than a little devotional. I would write down that Bible verse in my journal and keep it handy throughout the day as I worked and would go over the verse again and again as I needed it as I felt anxious, etc. It really was so calming to have His word hidden in my heart :)
