For Such A Time As This
I read my proverb for the day and had no direction where to read past that. I prayed for God to speak to me this morning and flipped until I landed on Esther. I haven't read it in a while and I remembered it fit great with yesterdays topic of making easy choices vs the hard ones. I couldn't help but think of the politicians and judges involved in my case over the years who have made the easy choice instead of standing up for what was right.
In the book of Esther, it starts out with King Ahasuerus calling for his queen,Vashti, so he could show her off to the people. She refused. I guess she was tired of his drunken requests and being put on display like an object. Back then, people in power worried what the masses would think when they found out that their queen didn't come to them when they called. They were full of pride. Not very different from how people with authority in today’s world view things. More often than not, people in power make hasty decisions solely based on how it makes them look and that’s been more than true for the people handling my case over the years.
One of my favorite verses in Esther:
Esther 4:14 "for if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your fathers house will perish. And who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"
Esther faced an impossibly difficult decision approaching the king without being called. The stakes were high. She could have been put to death had the king not found favor in her.
This brings my thoughts to the Supreme Court. I pray for the men and women making the decision about my appeal. I pray their hearts will be burdened with the question of “who knows, maybe we were put in our position for such a time as this” to stand up for truth, and not bow down and make an easy choice. Political motives have prevailed the past 6.5 years. I pray God uses the Supreme Court to stand up and show everybody what He can do if we just have the courage to do what is right and not only think about ourselves.
By the off chance these emails are shared and reach someone who has the power to help me and my family, please consider that maybe you were put in your position of power for such a time as this. This is not just one person sitting in prison over the injustice, it’s a wife and kids suffering alongside me. It also affects every officer in the state. If wrong and lies prevail, it shows that even though the law says I was acting justly in my duties, politics and opinions are stronger than law. This compromises the integrity of our judicial system. It sets a dangerous precedent that encourages greedy politicians and prosecutors who are eager to make a name for themselves, to capitalize and throw more innocent officers in jail for doing their job.
Then, as the plot thickens, we see nasty Haman slowly hang himself with his own rope. The rope he meant for Mordecai. Pride comes before a fall and Haman's own evil plans backfire on him. What Haman meant to harm another came back to bite him in perfect justice. The gallows Haman made for Mordecai, were used to hang the very man who built them. I often feel like the people who have wrongfully accused me and spoken lies against me are getting away with it. Proverbs has multiple verses touching on this subject promising us that God sees the injustice and He will not let it go unpunished .
Proverbs 19:9 " a false witness will not go unpunished and he who speaks lies shall perish."
Proverbs 17:13 "whoever rewards evil for good, evil will not depart from his house".
Proverbs 17:15 " he who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord."
Which brings me to my last point. By the off chance this reaches anyone involved who has spoken lies about me, I just want you to know I continue to pray for you through the pain and injustice. God has a plan not even you can thwart.
Matthew 5:44 "but I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,"
